I had to keep the thottle up to over 1200 rpm's to keep it running at stops. I immediately stopped and fueled up and it did not occur on the remainder of the ride home today. But at idle, low RPM and during acceleration and engine braking, the engine will be running lean because of the increased air flow when you remove the cat. This will have a negative effect on the motorcycles rideability and is why the bike develops a terrible on/off like throttle action after a decat. The biggest benefit of the EXUP is found in the low-mid RPM range, where the valve closes to provide back pressure. I think what was happening was that my EXUP would open during normal riding, but because my cables were so loose, it didn't close sufficiently to provide the proper amount of back pressure at low RPMs, causing rough idle and stalling. Once the RPM comes back up, the AC reengages, etc. A slight application of the throttle seems to make this stop. However, the surging RPM (1k-2k), low RPM, stalling problem still continues. The ST4s does not like life on the run below about 3,500 rpm, although it should idle smoothly at a standstill. Standing idle is about 1,000-1,100 rpm.
